Therapy with dermapen is a new procedure, which aims to improve firmness, elasticity and skin tone by multiple injections. As a result it reduces fine lines and wrinkles, pore visibility, stretch marks and scars, and overall freshens the skin’s appearance and firms the facial contour.
How does dermapen work?
Dermapen is an automatic device, resembling a pen, which has a specially constructed tip, provided with many needles. Their number can vary between 1 and about ten which defines the possibility of their biological effect. The depth at which they pierce the skin can also vary. The needles are made from surgical stainless steel and are strongly attached to the tip. During the procedure the electric energy gives out reflexive movements to the tip, making the needled enter and exit the skin. With this process’ multiple repetition, a cascade of biochemical and cell processes is provoked, leading to activation of the skin cells that produce collagen. A few weeks after the first procedure due to the production of the new connective tissue collagen fascicles the skin is firmer and fuller, with improved elasticity.
As an addition to the procedure, in a specially designed container in the inside of the tip, different substances could be put in, which will enforce the effect from the mechanic stimulation. These substances could be collagen stimulators, brightening products, hydrating products, antioxidants and others. The formed micro canals in the skin make the quick entrance of the substances possible, and it heightens their efficiency in the deeper layers of the skin. By using the same mechanism some medications can also be inserted.
When is dermapen therapy applied?
The main indications of applying dermapen therapy are: reducing the lines and wrinkles around the eyes and lips, removing stretch marks and scars – from acne, burns, traumas, etc.
For achieving maximal comfort during the procedure, before its start a numbing cream is applied to the skin. Under its influence the skin becomes numb for 20-30 minutes and the procedure becomes maximally bearable. Dermapen can be used on people with all skin types – lighter, darker skin and it can even be used during the summer, without heightening the sensitivity towards the sun.
The recovery time is 2-3 days after the procedure, and during the first day the skin is slightly red and swollen, and during the next days the places where the skin was treated become less visible.
In order to achieve maximal results, the procedure should be done 4-5 times.
Advantages of the procedure
Dermapen has many advantages over the alternative fractional laser procedures. The therapy is suitable for all skin types, even tanned skin. The recovery time is a couple of days, and the results become visible in 2-3 weeks after the procedure. There is no need to stay away from the sun, and the pain during the procedure is minimal.
